Post-Spawn Walleye Pattern
Females Recover for 10 Days
After spawning, females move to the FIRST DEEP BREAK adjacent to the spawn reef. They don't feed actively for 7โ10 days while recovering.
Males Stay Active
Male walleyes (smaller fish, under 18 inches) stay on the spawn reef 10+ days and feed. They're the catchable fish during this window.
Hit Adjacent Structure
Look at the spawn reef on your sonar. Find the first depth change (4 ft โ 8 ft, 8 ft โ 12 ft) within 100 yards. That's where post-spawn females sit.
Slow Down EVERYTHING
1/8 oz jig + leech, slow drag along the break. Lindy rigs with crawler at 0.5 mph. Cast a Senko parallel to the break. Don't reel fast.
Best Tactic: Suspending Jerkbait
Rapala Husky Jerk in #10 size. Cast over the break, jerk-jerk-pause for 5 seconds, repeat. Pressured + spooked walleyes can't resist.
