What Jig Color for Walleye

Stained Water: Chartreuse

When visibility is under 4 feet, chartreuse glows the brightest. Walleyes see it from farther away. Add gold blade if trolling.

Clear Water: Natural Colors

Visibility over 6 feet means walleyes can see detail. Use chrome, gold, perch, or shad patterns. Light line. Slow retrieve.

Low Light + Dawn/Dusk: Purple

Purple cuts through fading light better than chartreuse. Walleye eyes pick it up at dusk + dawn.

Ice + Cold Water: Glow Paint

Under ice or in <40°F water, glow-in-the-dark colors that hold a charge from a flashlight. Black-on-glow or gold-on-glow.

Night: Black or White

Night walleyes hunt silhouettes. A solid black or solid white jig gives the cleanest profile against moonlight.
