Crappie Biology

Active 55-75°F, peak 62-72°F. Spawn at 60-68°F (blacks 2-4°F warmer than whites). Low-light feeders — dawn/dusk/night dominate. Activity drops above 80°F.

Spring Spawn — Easiest Bite of the Year

Pre-spawn (50-58°F): staging 8-20 ft along channel edges. Spawn (60-68°F): 1-4 ft in shallow brush, reeds, dock pilings. Slip bobber + 1/32 oz jig + 1" plastic = limit days.

Summer Suspended Pattern
